What motivated you to become a fitness instructor?
Before becoming a fitness instructor I was an Investment Banker. I worked 12-14 hours on a busy trading floor in London.
The lifestyle, (“work hard, play harder”), the brutal culture, the isolation and stress all became too much for me and lead to a series of health issues such as anxiety attacks and depression.
I wanted to find a job with a real sense of purpose, I job where I felt I would make a real contribution to people’s lives, I job where I could meet and connect with people from all walks of life. So after joining a group exercise class to initially combat my anxiety, I fell in love with the health and mental benefits of group exercise. And I have never looked back since.
What do you like best about the classes you deliver?
I love the energy, the fun and the fact that it doesn’t matter what day you have had you can guarantee that 45-60 mins later you will always feel so much brighter, walk a little bit taller and feel happier.
We live in an extremely fast paced society and I feel so blessed to be in a position where I can help people realise their full potential. For me, being healthy isn’t about the weight you lose but about the life you gain.
Tell us one fun/interesting fact?
I once turned up at the wrong funeral….and stayed for the whole of the service!
I am also a children’s picture book author. Each story explores and promotes diversity, inclusiveness and kindness. Because we all know the world needs more of this.
